The holidays are almost here! I love all that comes with the holidays – family, fun, good food, and shopping. But sometimes it can be overwhelming with all the crowds. So a perfect place to still enjoy the holidays without all the traffic jams is Block Island as every year the island tees up its Annual Holiday Shopping Stroll. It’s also a great excuse for a weekend - or day - trip to the island!

The Shopping Stroll kicks off the Block Island holiday season with festive decorations (including the awesome Lobster Pot Tree) and local retailers offering incredible promotions starting on Black Friday and running through Sunday.

Be sure to check out the shops on Water and Dodge Street as well as Kimberly's, The Old Island Pub, Odd Fellows Cafe, The Barn, Eli's, McAloon's and more for dining options. For a complete list of what's open visit the Block Island Chamber of Commerce.

On Saturday there will also be a Winter Market at the Island Free Library where local artists and craftsman will display their wares. Many of the island’s fav vendors from the Summer Farmers Market will be at the Winter Market too.

If you’re excited to shop the Holiday Stroll and want to get to the island, there will be High Speed ferry service from Pt. Judith over the holiday weekend. Check out the ferry schedule here.

So find a unique holiday gift on Block Island! You’ll find something here you definitely can’t find anywhere else and use it as a mini getaway – whether you go for the day or stay overnight.
