Moisturizing should be a core part of your skin care routine. Yes, everyone should be doing it (just like wearing sunscreen!) even if you have oily or acne prone skin. No matter what type of skin you have; if you’re not moisturizing, your skin is missing out. Here’s why…
Moisturizing Regulates Your Skin
There’s a common misconception that if you have acne or oily skin you shouldn’t use a moisturizer.
But that’s not the case. According to dermatologist Dr. Heidi Waldorf “well-moisturized skin will be more likely to control oiliness on its own.”
That’s because moisturizing your skin helps it regulate itself. So whether you have oily or dry skin, moisturizing can help with both.
How does this relate to acne? Well, not surprisingly, oily skin can lead to acne. The surprising thing is that overly dry skin can too. You see, overproduction of oil or dryness can cause breakouts.
That’s how moisturizing helps balance your skin.
Moisturizing Is Anti-Aging
As we age our skin becomes drier. With this, wrinkles and fine lines begin to appear.
But applying a moisturizer every day will trap water in our skin to give it a more youthful appearance.
So moisturizing your skin can help to reduce the appearance of aging skin by making it look more hydrated. Pretty simple.
Apply A Moisturizer Day and Night
Don’t skimp on that moisturizer. Generally you should apply a moisturizer day and night.
It’s also best to apply it to damp skin (maybe after cleansing) to trap even more moisture. In the morning make sure you use your moisturizer and a sunscreen or find a product that offers both in one (like our Natural Face Moisturizer SPF 30 ). At night you can use a night cream as your moisturizer (oh we have one too, our Organic Revitalizing Night Cream ).
Skin Care Smarts
Now that you know moisturizing is a MUST, don’t forget to make it part of your daily routine. It’s easy to do and has so many benefits. Your skin will thank you.
