Grapes are what I call nature’s candy. They are bite sized and totally delicious. Can something that tastes so good also be good for your body and more importantly your skin? In this case the answer is yes as grapes are packed with so much goodness.

Grapes Soothe Your Skin

Grape, or its official name vitis vinifera, has many benefits. For centuries goodness has been extracted from the skin and seed oil of grapes. For example, European folk healers sought to cure eye and skin disease with grapes.

Today studies from around the world show that grape extract has the potential to provide anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and wound healing benefits. For example: two different studies, one in 2002 and another in 2011, found that due to the pharmacologically active phytochemicals in grapes – they have the possibility to provide dermal wound healing.

Additionally, one of the main active ingredients of grapeseed oil is resveratrol. Resveratrol is a polyphenolic antioxidant that offers skin calming properties and has the ability to minimize the look of redness.

We also can’t forget to mention that grapes are full of antioxidants such as gallic acid, monomeric catechin, epicatechin and vitamin E.

There’s so much to love about grapes!
