Why not use ingredients that have stood the test of time – ones that have been used for hundreds or thousands of years? Burdock is one of these ingredients.

Therapeutic Use

Burdock or Arctium Lappa (its official scientific name) has been used therapeutically for centuries by ancient societies in Asia, Europe and North America.

Traditionally, the plant was used:

  • Externally as a remedy for skin problems such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis
  • Internally to detoxify blood and promote blood circulation and as a diuretic to help eliminate excess water

Its roots, seeds and leaves are still in popular use in traditional Chinese medicine where it is often used with other herbs to treat colds and sore throats.

As you can see there’s a lot of history and benefits to burdock.

Reduce Signs of Aging

The benefits of this plant continue to be studied today. For example, recent scientific studies indicate that burdock can improve the signs of aging. A 2008 study concluded:

“Our data show that topical treatment with a natural A. lappa fruit extract significantly improves the metabolism of the dermal extracellular matrix and leads to a visible wrinkle reduction in vivo. In conclusion, A. lappa fruit extract represents a targeted means to regenerate dermal structures and, thus, offers an effective treatment option for mature skin.”

You can’t beat these results!
