About Rosehip

Rosehip are the fruits of the rose plant. Yup, rose plants have fruits. The official scientific or INCI name for rosehip is Rosa Rubiginosa (hint, check for it on our ingredient labels!).

Rosehips been around for a long time. In fact, ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans used rosehip as a remedy because of its healing power.

Rich in Vitamins and Fatty Acids

Rosehip is packed with good stuff. It’s filled with vitamins A, C, E, D and B-carotene – which are all antioxidants that fight free radical damage.

It’s also chock full of essential fatty acids from oleic, palmitic, linoleic and gamma linolenic acid (GLA).

All this good stuff is one of the reasons why you’ll find it in many of our products.

Anti-aging Benefits of Rosehip

Rosehip is especially high in vitamin C. What’s great is that vitamin C is responsible for collagen production in the body and can boost skin regeneration and elasticity.

High concentrations of GLA are also found in rosehip. GLA is another skin care hero. It helps to reduce fine lines and fights the drying effects of the climate, sun and environment.

Dermatologist’s Love Rosehip Too

Dr. S. Manjula Jegasothy, founder and CEO of Miami Skin Institute on all the benefits of this awesome fruit:

“Rosehip oil is considered more effective than other herbal oils because it has smaller molecules of beta-carotene (Vitamin A), and essential fatty acids that are much like the skin cell membrane, which enable the rosehip oil to penetrate deeper into the skin. In addition, rosehip oil also contains high levels of Vitamins E and C, which are crucial antioxidants for decreasing inflammation (acne) and reducing sun damage (brown spots) and helping scar tissue to regenerate in a more smooth and normal fashion.”

So there you have it. Expert advice on how powerful rosehip really can be.
