Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. As a kid it was all about candy, candy, candy. As an adult I can't say much has changed! I still have a sweet tooth. This year I'll be trick-or-treating with a few of my little nieces and I'm hoping they let me have a piece or two. But what else is out there for Halloween? Well I did a little investigation for the Block Island / Rhode Island area and there's everything from hay rides to pumpkin picking to haunted houses. Tons of attractions. So let's start with the Block and be sure to check out our Spooktastically Fun Halloween Stats.
Block Island
First off, it's a great time of year to visit the island. Things have quieted down yet there's still a lot to do. A bite to eat, an autumn hike, searching for sea glass on the beach or just reading a book on the hotel porch. It's a beautiful time to make your way over. Now, as for Halloween, there are a few events.
Halloween Party at the School
October 30th from 6 pm to 8 pm.
This is an all ages event meant to support the Block Island Student Council.

Rhode Island
There's a lot to do around the Ocean State. Too many things to list them all individually but I did find a number of websites that summarize activities and events. Here's what I have.
GoProvidence.com - Halloween
This is the official Providence convention and visitors bureau site and their page has more than just Halloween events. As far as Halloween it covers a diverse range including a Jack-O-Lantern spectacular and a horror film festival.

Not only does this site list Rhode Island attractions, but it also covers Halloween activities in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. For Rhode Island they have eight suggestions which cover haunted houses and trails.

Pumpkin Patches and More - RI Patches
Here pumpkin patches are listed by county which can make finding the ones close to you a bit easier. One thing they mention, which seems like a good idea for any attraction, is to call before you go as changes aren't always reported.

That about covers it for this year. If you make it to any of these attractions (or other ones) I'd love to know what you think of them. Listings are great but even better are personal reviews.
