Top 5 Beaches Around the World

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Australia

Will and I recently got engaged and I've been thinking, well really avoiding wedding planning.   Mainly I've been researching places I want to travel to, using wedding planning as a ruse.   My dream wedding / vacation would be something abroad on a beautiful and sunny white sand beach with crystal blue water.  I'm secretly hoping to win the lottery to pay for it and hire someone to plan it.   Nevertheless, in my research I've come across several rankings for the best beaches in the world.  I can't let all my research go to waste!  So below is some information for everyone to enjoy.

Maybe this list will provide inspiration to you if you are wedding or even vacation planning.  It certainly provided hours of sunny daydreaming for me!  Of course, don't forget to wear sunscreen if you go.

I looked at a few key travel sites that I trust to find the best beaches.  Each site based their list of best beaches on editorial curation or user voting.

With so many lists, how to know which ones really are the best?  Well, five beaches showed up on more than one list.  I figure that makes them candidates for the five best and they are:

    • Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Australia: Yahoo Travel says this beach is the most photographed beach in Australia.  The beach is also very ecological friendly as it was awarded at one point Queensland's Cleanest Beach and CNN's most "Eco Friendly Beach".  Adding more to it's purity, no dogs or cigarette smoking are allowed on the beach.
    • Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles: According to National Geographic this beach off the coast of Africa is also one of the most photographed in the world.  The beach seems to be photographed a lot because of it's unique look - white sand nestled in between groups of huge granite boulders.  The way the beach is structured provides lots of secluded areas.
    • Lanikai Beach, Kailua, Hawaii: Of course a beach on Hawaii had to make the list.  Users on TripAdvisor call this beach the "Best Beach in the US".  A coral reef protects the shore of the beach so it keeps the water calm and a brilliant blue color.
    • Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman: The Travel Channel says this beach is one of the "finest in the Caribbean".  The actual beach is only about 5.5 miles long but offers calm and clear white water that experts says are great for families.
    • The Maldives: US News says if you want "total seclusion" look no further than the Maldives, southwest of Sri Lanka. It's also often a honeymoon destination because the Maldives offers luxury resorts, tropical fish and swaying palm trees.

Hope you enjoyed my research.  Good luck planning and maybe I can even borrow your itinerary, especially if you can fit in a wedding plan!
