A Bracelet That Measures Sun Exposure? It Exists...

Netatmo's JUNE bracelet measures sun exposure

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) took place last week in Las Vegas. If you're unfamiliar with CES, it's an annual electronics show where all the latest gadgets are debuted from small and large companies alike. It certainly doesn't sound like a place where anything to do with sun safety would come out of. This year, not so, as Netatmo announced their soon to be released JUNE bracelet

What Is It?

What exactly is the JUNE? Well, it's a bracelet (it can be worn as a broach too) that measures sun exposure. Combine it with an iOS app and in addition to sun exposure info you'll see the sun's local UV index and suggestions for when to wear a hat or sunglasses and what SPF sunscreen to use. We suggest always using a broad spectrum sunscreen that is SPF 15 or above as sunscreens that meet this specification help prevent skin cancer, save the super hero gene and slow skin aging.

While we haven't used the device, it's not available yet, it is pretty to look at. It was designed in part by Camille Toupet who has worked with high end luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Harry Winston. Check out the picture at the top of the page to see for yourself. It comes in two other colors.

What Does It Cost?

We've heard the retail price will be $99. This sounds a little expensive to us and we still think applying sunblock as part of your daily routine should simply be habit. But hey, if it helps you with sun safety, it might just be worth it.

What do you think? Are you interested in the JUNE?
