FDA Passes on New Sunscreen Ingredients

Back in November Congress passed the Sunscreen Innovation Act. Its aim is to speed up the approval process for new sunscreen ingredients. In particular, it's been 25 years since any new ingredient was approved and eight ingredients have been waiting over 12 years for approval. What a Sunscreen's SPF Really Means

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor so you'd think it measures how well a sunscreen protects you. However, that's only partially true. There are three kinds of ultraviolet rays that come from the sun: UVA, UVB and UVC.
